Mini-Meditations for Moms

Feel like you need to find a few moments to pause throughout the day but have absolutely no time for it? Right there with ya. Recently I've been craving and carving out tiny moments throughout the day to dive in and breathe deep despite and because of any "urgent" matters that may be occurring in my home at any one given time.

Here is what I am doing. This is what is working for me. Maybe one or more of these mini-meditations will work for you too? I hope so. Because we all NEED to press the reset button from time to time. Seriously, our kids need us to just as much as we need it for ourselves. So if you are a busy parent who wants to start meditating or getting back in touch with you inner calm but are not sure where to start....start here...

3-MINUTE MEDITATION

( This is one of the many flower field pictures I've taken over the years. Dreamy way to reconnect... ) If you read "Mindful Mornings", I had mentioned that I would be sharing this soon. Well, here we go. You can approach this guided or unguided, but I've really been into the HEADSPACE APP (not even a paid advertisement here!). For 3 minutes you let the voice on your phone direct you and you close your eyes, coming back a little more zen then when you started. Awesome way to ground yourself, even if you've never meditated before, they make it easy.

I have switched to using this app right before bed. But you can try it in the mornings or whenever you have time. The only thing I would suggest is attaching your meditation routine to something you already do every day so it becomes routine as well. I use the FREE Basics Pack right now but am considering upgrading to access their library. The free pack is great though and will get you going for sure.

MEDITATION ON THE GO

( Pictured here I use lavender buds to create a mandala necklace )

I have started making meditation necklaces from elements that ground me. I am using clay dug up in the yard, shale from the creek, and other bits and pieces of the earth that speak to me. When I feel like I am needing a little extra self-love and a reminder to stay present, I slip on one of my necklaces. I've creating ones that are designed to remind me of "balance" and ones that help me stay "grounded". I have more in the making because I love them so much! There is something about being able to actually touch the necklace that helps me close my eyes, breathe, and take a moment when needed. Good stuff.

If you'd like a necklace, reach out, i do custom orders. But you can also use a stone with a word printed on it and throw it in your purse or pocket for the same effect. Something tangible and portable is the key. You can grab a marker and make your own but I've also featured a great set of meditation stones in "My Little Earth Shop" if you'd like to check them out.

A SIP OF MEDITATION

I have been absolutely hooked on this recipe for "Golden Milk" before bed. It relaxes me and tastes sooo good. It's like my reward at the end of the day. Something I look forward to. The turmeric in it mixed with the cinnamon and honey hits the spot. Turmeric gives you more seratonin, "the happy hormone", AND a lot of the ingredients work to both promote calm and lessen anxiety.

Instead of Golden Milk you can also take a moment to close your eyes and breathe with a cup of tea while the kids nap or go to school. Whatever works for you. Just try to treat yourself to something that will allow you to take time for yourself.

Meditation doesn't have to be a long practice. Short bursts of mindfulness throughout the day can give you a ton of benefits. Anything that helps center and calm the mind can only lead to good things.

Hope this helps bring a little peace to your busy day ~
